Pocatello Transportation
Pocatello enjoys an outstanding infrastructure for a metro of its size. With efficient and responsive traffic lights, you'll find getting in and around town a snap. Citizens and tourists are also serviced by a public bus system, two interstates, and a regional airport.
Public Bus System
Pocatello Regional Transit (PRT) serves a large portion of southeast Idaho. It offers numerous routes in 4 service categories: fixed route, door to door, commuter, and charter. The urban fixed-route system generates the largest percentage of ridership, which includes a Free Fare Zone on the ISU campus. Prices are very reasonable with discounts given to students, senior and disabled citizens, and children.
Interstates
Pocatello is situated at the junction of I-15 and I-86, making it well suited for travels throughout the Intermountain West. Idaho Falls is a 45-minute drive on I-15 North; Salt Lake City is just 2 hours and 15 minutes on I-15 South; and Boise just over 3 hours on I-86 West.
Regional Airport
Located a few miles west of town off I-86, the Pocatello Regional Airport offers convenient air travel right from Pocatello. Delta Connection services the airport with daily departures to the Salt Lake International Airport where you can walk straight to your connecting flight. Flying from the Pocatello airport is a joy! Parking is FREE, and lines are short—when there are any at all.
Formerly a World War II Army Air Base, the airport has been modernized and features an upstairs windowed room for watching planes take off and land.
